In this tattoo gallery, we will see an amphibious airplane, a portrait of a WW2 veteran and Amelia Mary Earhart.   This special lady was born July 24, 1897; missing July 2, 1937; declared legally dead January 5, 1939.   Earhart was the first woman to receive the U.S. Distinguished Flying Cross, awarded for becoming the first aviatrix to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean.  Her great achievement changed the way people think about women and what they can do.   She set many other records,[2] wrote best-selling books about her flying experiences and was instrumental in the formation of The Ninety-Nines, an organization for female pilots.

A hand grenade is handy and highly effective weapon at destroying things.  It is an anti-personnel weapon that explodes a short time after release. Soldiers resort to the use of grenade to blow up things out of sight or far from their surrounding.  The word “grenade” is derived from the French word for pomegranate, as shrapnel reminded soldiers of the seeds. Grenadiers were originally soldiers who specialized in throwing grenades. Some grenades are fired from rifles or from purpose-designed grenade launchers.

The first grenades appeared in the Byzantine Empire, not long after the reign of Leo III (717-741).  Byzantine soldiers learned that Greek fire, a Byzantine invention of the previous century, could not only be thrown by flamethrowers at the enemy, but also in stone and ceramic jars. Later, glass containers were employed.
