A lot of people like the maple leaves. It is a sign for the season of autumn. The maple leaf is the characteristic leaf of the maple tree, and is the most widely recognized national symbol of Canada.
The reason maple leaves are so popular in Canada because at the beginning of the eighteenth century, the settlements of New France had attained a population of about 18,000. Also by this time, the maple leaf had been adopted as an emblem by the French Canadians along the Saint Lawrence River.
Its popularity with French Canadians continued, and was reinforced when, at the inaugural meeting of the Société Saint-Jean-Baptiste in 1834, the maple leaf was one of numerous emblems proposed to represent the society. Speaking in its favour, Jacques Viger, the first mayor of Montreal, described the maple as “the king of our forest; … the symbol of the Canadian people.”
Here are some unique features about the maple leaves that make them well like by people: Recall some of the most obvious features of the leaves of certain maple species to identify them quickly. The leaves of the mountain maple and the striped maple look like the bottom of a duck’s foot, with a heart-shaped base where the leaf connects to the stem. Box elder is the lone American maple with compound leaves, with three to seven separate leaflets on each stem. The sides of a black maple leaf normally bend downward and the underside of the leaf feels hairy. It is peaceful when looking at a maple leaf.
